EXPLORERS

Explorer Scouts is the section aimed at 14 to 18 year olds. Sutton Coldfield East District has 3 Explorer Units: Focus, Phoenix and Trinity.

All operate an adventurous programme to suit both sexes. There are opportunities to experience lots of different activities from White Water Rafting, Gliding, Rock Climbing, Wind Surfing, Paddle Boarding, Bowling and Camping. In fact, the main idea is that the Explorer Scouts organise it themselves with adult help, so in effect the programme can be suited to the needs of the group as a whole.

There is plenty of opportunity for Adventure. Gaining the Queens Scout and the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award is highly encouraged. Also, with an organisation as big as the scouts (40 million on the last International Census), the opportunities are immense.

Explorer Scouts can attend International Jamborees, go on International Camps, volunteer on service projects. In fact, you can do almost anything you want, as long as you are prepared to help organise it and get your friends interested as well.

Check out what the groups are up to on our district Facebook page.
